If You Like: Teen fiction, dystopian societies
Similar to: Bumped by Megan McCafferty, Fanfare by Renee Ahdieh, Saved! (movie)

Although this book was better than Bumped, I still wasn't captivated by Megan McCafferty's story. I'm glad I read this book though because it redeemed Bumped, and tied up all of the loose ends from that book.
Twin sisters Harmony and Melody are both pregnant...kind of. Harmony is pregnant with JonDoe's twin babies, but the world thinks they are her husband Ram's babies. Melody is claiming she is pregnant with JonDoe's babies, when really she is sporting a fake baby bump, and she is in love with her best friend Zen. When Harmony escapes from Goodside, she goes into labor the very next day while Melody is in school. What will happen when the world finds out that Melody, one of the most popular baby bumpers in society has been lying to them all along. What about the Jayden's who are waiting patiently for their babies to arrive?
This book fits in with all of the dystopian society books that are emerging, but it still leaves something to be desired. It was a decent read, but there are so many better books out there, and in order to get to this book, you have to suffer through the first book in the series.

When the Smoke Clears by Lynette Eason

If You Like: Christian Romance/Suspense, A good book
Similar to: Nicholas Sparks novels, especially The Guardian, Sarah Addison Allen novels

This book was really really good. It was the perfect balance of romance and suspense.
When Alexia returns to her hometown for a high school reunion, she witnesses a murder upon arrival, and becomes the next target for the killer. The team on the case is local hottie, Hunter, and his partner Katie. Hunter has had a crush on Alexia since high school and his mission is to keep her safe. With Hunter and Katie on the case, will they find the killer, or will the killer find Alexia first?
This is a book you won't be able to put down. You'll be guessing who the killer is until the very last page, and then, you'll be waiting for the sequel.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth

If You Like: Dystopian societies, war
Similar to: The Hunger Games Trilogy, Matched Trilogy, Lost (tv show)

I really liked this book, but I haven't quite decided how I feel about the ending. I honestly think that is something that I can only decide after I read the third book in this trilogy.
The simulation has ended, and there were many casualties. Now Tris and Four have to fight back against the Erudite government who is fighting in a war with the other four factions. Tris will face the most critical decision she has ever made in her life. Does she join in with Four in the fight against the Erudite and help destroy all of the information, or does she side with Marcus, Four's abusive father, who may know critical information that needs to be protected. Tris can only do what her instinct tells her.
This book is packed full of action, love, and surprising information. What would you do; side with the love of your life, or take a chance and side with his enemy who might know the only way save mankind?
