If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
If You Like: Suspenseful storylines, life changing novels, quick and easy reads, a good cry
Similar to: Sarah Dessen novels, The Choice by Nicholas Sparks
Ages: 13-100

I was planning on going to bed, when I immersed myself in this story instead.  This quick read really is a gem of a book.  It's actually kind of funny because this book is really similar to the book I read last which was The Choice by Nicholas Sparks.  Both books are good, but each one is special in its own way.

If I Stay, is a memoir of the life of a seventeen year old Cellist, Mia, who finds everything she has ever known has changed in an instant.  When a car accident puts Mia in a coma, she must choose between living without her family, or dying and leaving behind the love of her life, Adam, and her promising future as a musician.  Will she go, or will she stay?

This book is great for readers of all ages because it really does help you to understand how valuable life really is, and in the end, what choices really matter the most in life.

The Choice by Nicholas Sparks

Rating: 5 out of 5
If You Like: Romance, fiction
Similar to: The Notebook
Ages: 15-100

Nicholas Sparks did it again.  His writing takes you to a beautiful city where the flowers are in bloom, the ocean is sparkling, and the people are friendly and hospitable.  Sparks always manages to share a romance that is beautiful, perfect, and forever.

Gabby already has a wonderful boyfriend of seven years named Kevin.  He's the perfect gentleman, and he spends his life trying to please Gabby and make her happy.  She's just waiting for his proposal because she's sure he's the one...

...That is, until she meets her next door neighbor Travis.  Gabby and Travis bicker back and fourth, and seem to disagree in such a way that makes them perfect for each other.  Their chemistry is undeniable from the start, but Gabby already has a boyfriend.  Can Gabby give up the perfect man who knows her so well, or the one who pushes her buttons and makes her feel like no one else has ever made her feel?

The Choice is a book about love, relationships, and hardships.  It's about realizing how blessed you are, making sure you always tell your loved ones how much you love them, and cherishing every moment like it's your last.

First Love by James Patterson and Emily Raymond

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
If You Like: Romance, teen romance, tear jerkers
Similar to: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, and Nicholas Sparks Novels
Ages: 13-100

I wish I had known ahead of time to grab my box of tissues.  The last book I read was The Fault in Our Stars, and this book was pretty much the same thing, but I felt like The Fault in Our Stars was predictable and unoriginal too.  I still liked both of these books individually.

This book was a beautiful piece of work that really touched my heart.  It is such a quick read, and so fast paced that you start and end the book and less than a month has passed.

Axi Moore is a good girl who is sick of being a good girl.  She's sick of taking care of her alcoholic father and studying for AP classes.  She's in love with her best friend, Robinson, but she doesn't have the guts to tell him.  That is, until Axi Moore decides to take a spontaneous road trip with Robinson.  On the road trip, Axi and Robinson get into more trouble than they expect to.  Axi and Robinson's lives are both changed forever on this road trip.  They realize how precious life is, and how a great love can change your life forever.

This book teaches so many lessons of love and loss.  It touches on so many different faucets of life, that so many readers can relate to.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
If you like: Sad romance, cancer stories
Simliar to: Nicholas Sparks books, Sarah Dessen books, Elizabeth Scott books
Ages: 13-100

This is a beautiful piece of work about a terminally ill girl who falls in love with a one legged boy.  It's another one of those cancer stories, but the charcters have such a different outlook on life that they are different from the charcters of other cancer stories.  This story is honest and real, and Augustus and Hazel's love isn't perfect, but it's their kind of perfect.  They know that they aren't going to live forever, but they count the good days and make every moment count.  Most of us never live a day with that mindset because we're always rushing to do what we feel like we have to do, and we never really stop to notice the little things.  For Hazel and Augustus, every day was full of the little things.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good novel.  It's one of those ones that I feel like I've read before, but the story comes from the witty and hilarious Hazel, and she is what makes this book so different and so special.  Grab your tissues and get ready for the roller coaster of emotions this book will take you on.
